Qatar WC 2022

Qatar World Cup 2022

From November 21 to December 18 of the year 2022, a total of 32 countries will look for a new world champion at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

World Cup 2022 host cities

Qatar has proposed seven host cities for the 2022 World Cup to FIFA. The transport options during the 2022 World Cup will differ from the usual options for a FIFA World Cup tournament because all host cities are relatively close to each other.

The World Football Championship will be played in the following seven host cities in 2022:

  • Losail
  • Doha
  • Khor
  • Ash Shamal
  • Al Wakrah
  • Umm Salal
  • Al Rayyan

Major plans have been made for the New Doha International Airport and the overall infrastructure. This airport will be the main airport during the 2022 World Cup. Nevertheless, the fact that 10 of the 12 host cities are within a radius of 30 km can lead to problems. Moreover, the entire Qatar World Cup tournament is immediately affected if logistical and operational issues arise. Therefore, the infrastructure must be ready well before the start of the 2022 World Cup.

What about the distances between host cities in Qatar? The distances between the host cities in Qatar are minimal. The most significant space is between Al-Wakrah and Al-Shamal, namely 128 kilometres. Al-Khor is then the furthest away from the capital. The other host cities are within a radius of 30 km from Doha.
